Little Italy Cafe to Open Winter 2016
Through Lofty’s expansion from our original cafe in Encinitas, we have taken great care in looking for communities and locations that share the values that our business is built on. Early last year, we were approached by locally grown and focused, Fabric Investments and Creative House. They had recently acquired an incredible location in San Diego at the corner of Cedar and Colombia. Their ideal vision was to have Lofty create a café here, but at the time we were in the middle of building out our Solana Beach location and our attention needed to remain focused on creating that space.
Lucky for us, Brendan and Doug, are just as particular in finding the right tenant as we are in looking for the most fitting location. They came back to us again in early 2016 after not being able to find the right fit for the location, and at this point we were ready to take on a new project and knew this was to be the next Lofty location.
We are excited to announce that our fourth and biggest location will be in the neighborhood of Little Italy. Little Italy’s long history of being a tight knit community of residents and businesses, along with its emergence as the best culinary scene in San Diego has made us extremely excited and honored to be a part of it.
Located right next to the unique Beaumont Building (designed by San Diego’s own Rob Quigly), the extensive build out will transform the corner lot into an inviting and open space for the community to gather. The design will equip the prime corner location with large windows that open to the street to create an open, usable and aesthetic space. Additionally, the Little Italy cafe will feature the largest outdoor patio in the neighborhood. Serving freshly roasted coffee from our Encinitas Roasting Works, the coffee bar will have an open design, inviting engagement and conversation between baristas and customers to give the fullest coffee experience possible. The cafe will serve our locally sourced, organic breakfast and lunch menu, fresh house made juices, and feature a scratch baking kitchen that will be on full display to customers as each days pastries are created.
We look forward to meeting our new neighbors and community as the cafe works towards it’s opening in December of 2016!
