As we stood at the top of Francisco Morales's Finca La Esperanza farm earlier this year we felt a deep appreciation for the hard work that goes into producing coffee. Standing at the edge of the drying patios with the Morales family home behind us we were looking down terrain that can only be described as dangerously steep. On these incredible mountainsides of the Huehuetenango region is where farmers carefully plant, care for and handpick the ripest coffees. Francisco and his family have been growing competition winning coffee’s here for over 40 years, and the coffee they produced this year was the best we tasted from the entire country of Guatemala.
