ENCINITAS, Calif. - November 4, 2025 – Lofty Coffee Co. today announced the debut of its newest single-origin offering: The Ecuador – Finca Lugmapata, a coffee noted for its vibrant tangerine brightness, smooth chocolate ganache depth, and rich cherry sweetness - as well as an advanced processing method. Coffee enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience this unique release at a special tasting event on November 16 at Lofty's Roasting Works location: 97 N Coast Hwy 101 Ste 214 from 10am - 1pm.
The Ecuador – Finca Lugmapata showcases a cutting-edge processing method known as the Anaerobic Washed process, a fermentation-based approach that takes place without oxygen. In this controlled environment, unique microorganisms thrive and generate distinctive acids and aromatic compounds that yield complex, fruit-forward, and wine-like flavor profiles. After fermentation, the beans are washed with water to remove the mucilage and then dried — a step that preserves clarity while enhancing the coffee’s bold, expressive character.
Unlike traditional anaerobic methods that rely on additional inputs or nitrogen environments, the Anaerobic Washed process at Finca Lugmapata uses naturally occurring microbes in an oxygen-free setting. The result is a coffee that balances the clean finish of a washed coffee with the depth and intrigue of anaerobic fermentation — a hallmark of Lofty Coffee’s ongoing commitment to innovation, sustainability, and craftsmanship.
