Carlsbad Village Faire: The Best Shops

Carlsbad Village Faire: The Best Shops

Twice a year, the Carlsbad Village Street Faire turns Grand Avenue and State Street into a sea of white tents, with more than 900 booths and over 100,000 people browsing from one end of the Village to the other.

What many visitors miss is that these tents sit right in front of the shops that make the Village what it is the rest of the year.

To prepare you for faire day, here are some of the local shops we’d point a friend toward, whether you pop in on November 1 or come back later.

Carlsbad Street Fair 2026: What to Know

The Carlsbad Fall Street Fair is on Sunday, November 1, from 8 AM–4 PM.

If you’ve never been, the fair consists of booths of arts, crafts and antiques, it’s got an international (!) food court, there are children’s rides, and it’s topped off by an entertainment stage and beer garden. (It’s truly massive!)

You can find up-to-the-moment info for this year’s event here: carlsbad.org/carlsbad-village-street-faire

Here are a few practical notes before you go:

  • Grand Avenue, State Street, Washington Street, Roosevelt Street, Madison Street and Christiansen Way are closed to cars from early morning into the evening.
  • Free shuttles run every 15 minutes from the Shoppes at Carlsbad (Highway 78 and Jefferson) and the Poinsettia Coaster Station off I-5, according to the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce.
  • The first couple of hours are the calmest, and the crowds typically peak later in the morning through the early afternoon.

Beyond the Pop-Up Booths: Mainstay Carlsbad Village Shops Worth Visiting

The street fair changes from year to year, but the Village’s own shops are here every day!

If you’re looking for things to do in Carlsbad Village, here are a few staples, grouped by street so you can work them into your route.

On State Street

State Street is the faire’s main stretch and home to some of the Village’s most familiar storefronts.

Bamby’s Flowers storefront on State Street

Bamby’s Flowers 2763 State St.

Just a few doors from Lofty, it’s one of the best curated and most unique shops in town. Plus, flowers are an easy thing to carry home from a long day out at the festival!

Olive oil bottles on display at Humble Olive Oils

Humble Olive Oils 2922 State St.

Specialty oils only seem odd to anyone who hasn’t tried them! We love having such remarkably curated and packaged oil producers in our neighborhood.

Carlsbad Pet and Feed storefront

Carlsbad Pet and Feed 2832 State St.

What makes a local pet supply store different from a corporate one is obvious once you visit. This is one of our favorites!

Furniture and decor inside Skylar’s Home and Patio

Skylar’s Home and Patio 2840 State St.

Local furniture stores aren’t filled with stuff from corporate warehouses; they’re often uniquely curated. We love local furniture stores like Skylar’s.

Along Grand Avenue

Grand Avenue is the faire’s other main artery, and shops on that street lean toward art and vintage finds.

Bookshelves at Carlsbad Village Books

Carlsbad Village Books 640 Grand Ave.

No town is complete without a great bookstore, and not that we’re biased, but ours is one of the greatest.

Clothing racks organized by color at Flashbacks

Flashbacks 570 Grand Ave.

Flashbacks is a San Diego institution, and we love our Carlsbad location! “Recycled” fashion is one of the best trends in clothes. (And we love their setup of shopping by color.)

Surf-inspired artwork at Surf Art Spot

Surf Art Spot 575 Grand Ave.

If you’re looking for art that reflects the area, this is one of the de facto stores that truly captures Carlsbad’s vibe.

Over on Roosevelt Street

One block east, Roosevelt Street has some of the Village’s most distinctive small shops.

Crystals and minerals at Village Rock Shop

Village Rock Shop 2815 Roosevelt St.

If you aren’t into crystals, find someone who is and bring them here. (Trust us.)

Vinyl record bins at The Record Room

The Record Room 2835 Roosevelt St.

Record fans know that every vinyl shop has its own unique collection. There’s a reason people travel to come to ours!

Glass art at Barrio Glassworks

Barrio Glassworks 3060 Roosevelt St.

It’s true, Carlsbad has a place where you can blow your own glass! (Plus, buy some incredible art.)

Inside Double Take Women’s Consignment Boutique

Double Take Women’s Consignment Boutique 2931 Roosevelt St.

If you’re into one-of-a-kind clothing, this is one of the coolest places in all of San Diego.

Plan to Make a Day of It

The easiest way to enjoy both the booths and the shops is to start early, before the crowds fill in, and save the shops for when you need a break from the sidewalks.

Carlsbad State Beach is only a few blocks west if you want to sit on the seawall for a while, and if you need a coffee along the way, you’ll find Lofty at 2742 State Street.
